Transformation

Another one of the projects we've been working on this month is installing a new bathroom medicine cabinet and light. Ever watch renovation shows where it's a couple doing the remodeling job? Yep, that was us. I measured the previous cabinet and got something that was supposed to fit. It didn't. First the light was part of the original cabinet so a new hole had to be cut for that. Then we had to cut down and fill in on the side. When we went to fill in the side we discovered that two sheets of dry wall was used, of different thicknesses no less. So, we filled it in. Slowly, adding a layer, followed by a layer of mesh and then another layer until it was filled in. We then sanded it and painted. It actually looks good. I need to make the curtains, but it looks good.

She's not a baby anymore. . .

She's THREE!!! Wow, where has the time gone. Three years ago today, the doctor put her in my arms and we were so amazed buy all the thick, dark brown, hair. She was perfect. This year you've grown and changed so much, shedding all vestiges of babydom. We are so proud of your recent accomplishments especially potty training and buttoning your own shirts. Three years later you have seemed to strike a balance between wanting to be your own person and wanting to do everything your sister does. I love you my dear, you have brought so much joy into our lives. At one point I wasn't sure I was going to get to raise you, but I am blessed to be your mommy. What will three bring you?

Mother's Day

Today was a good day. Even though we over slept and barely made it to church in time for the kids to go up and sing to all the moms. I love it! Next year both girls will be able to go up and sing. After church we had lunch and we all took naps. D made dinner. I got my present a day early. A new digital camera. My blog has been lacking and aside from just being busy, I realized that a big part of my blog are pictures. Now I can add pictures again. I think I missed the last few wordless Wednesdays.

Hope all you moms had a great day!

Painting - home projects pt. 2

Sorry, my blog has been lacking lately, but, it's for a good reason. I have been painting the girls bedrooms. And of course I am not the type to just put a simple coat of paint on the wall. I picked 3 colors and in Naomi's room I did stripes, and in Sariah's I did a wall of pink and white diamonds. I put in chair rail in Naomi's room, and I still need to put it in in Sariah's, then underneath the rail I painted it black. Naomi's room looks great as does the diamonds I painted in Sariah's room. Man, it's such a pain in the butt getting all the lines nice and straight, level and parallel. It took me two weeks off an on to get it done, but, in the end it paid off it really does look great. :)

Woo Hoo!

Not a single accident last night. We are going on more then 24 hours of clean and dry. I am so proud of her. She decided she was going to do it and she did.

Do I dare say it?

We are fully potty trained during the day. I have not changed a diaper, pooppy or wet, in the last 5 days. She wants to wear panties to bed tonight, so we'll see how things go. I will set out a clean pair of jammies and sheets just in case.

Adventures in Decorating. Pt 1

It's been a crazy couple of week, and my blog has suffered for it.

My first task was to hang curtains in the living room and dining room. Why is that such a simple task can go so terribly wrong? Also note to home builders. IF you are installing a large picture window, an odd number of windows in a row, a oversized sliding glass doors, find center, and put a 2x4 there, so that when someone is hanging curtains there is a stud for the screws, because to cover that much window, it's going to be heavy. I need to plaster the wall now. The other window, the curtains are actually a little shorter then the window. I had to get a very specific rod to handle the weight of the curtains, and fit the space. BUT, when I put them in, I found that I couldn't fit the rail into the pocket, so I had to go out and buy hooks. Grrrr. This raised the curtains taller then the window. However, if I bought the next longer size they'd cover the heating vents, so that wouldn't work. Eventually we got them hung. It's nice to no longer live in a fish bowl.

For the first time in 5 1/2 yrs

I haven't change a poopy diaper. This has been going on for the last 3 days. I am thrilled beyond reason. She's still in pull ups, because she's currently comfortable in them, but no accidents. Which is fine for nap and bed times. She just decided that she was going to do it. M & M have been a VERY strong reinforcement keeping her going.

I think I have this potty training thing down. Forget what everyone says, the child will do it when they are ready, pushing it makes no one happy.
