"Oh yeah, Oh yeah, I get no shots today!"

This is what my oldest chanted from the moment we left with doctors office all the way home.

Today was her annual check up, she did so well. Sat on the table like a big girl and was very polite and cooperative, and very much impressed her doctor. (This was her first appt. with our new doctor.) She showed off her reading ability when I picked a paragraph out of a magazine and had her read it. It's one thing to say she's a good reader, but I felt it was something she needed to demonstrate. Of course, she blew her doctor away. She said I need to talk to the school she'll attend to make sure we get her the stimulation she's going to need to succeed. Kindergarten isn't going to be enough. Yep - we've been thinking about this for 3 yrs now. But, it was good to get a second (her first doctor said the same thing) professional opinion.

Her doctor looked over her immunization chart and concluded that no shots were required today. That thrilled Naomi. She was concerned about getting a shot all morning. She understood why we get shots, but just didn't want one.

She got a clean bill of health, at 45 1/2 lbs and 45 1/2 inches. They gave her an eye test and she's at 20/25, not enough to warrant a trip to the eye doctor. We'll have to keep an eye on that. Both of her parents didn't need glasses in elementary but did before they got into High School. We also found out her spine is a little off center. Not too much to be concerned about.

Looks like we're good for another year, and Naomi was as happy as can be.

Yay! Glad things are going well. My daughter also dislikes shots, which is tough sometimes. It's great that Naomi so impressed her doctor with her reading ability. It's great that you'll be making sure she gets extra stimulation in school. My mom had to do that with my little boy (my mom raises him due to his special needs status) but he's in kindergarten this year, does reading/writing with the 3rd graders, and has plenty to keep him entertained so he doesn't act out. I guess that's what counts!

Yay! Glad she is healthy. And that is wonderful that others can see how smart she is. Glad she impressed her new Dr.

I continue to be fascinated by Naomi's academic abilities. I can't wait to see what she's like once school starts - they will all be talking about her! Yay for no shots, that's makes a good day for Mom too!
